This Hero page celebrates the life of Abigail Kathleen Taylor/Sysengrath and is a place for family, friends and supporters to help raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital. It’s the families ongoing legacy and we hope people will join us in raising money for an amazing hospital.
So why do we raise money in memory of Abbie - because her tenacity and joy of life reminds us constantly to never take what we have for granted. Abbie was born on the 19th of October 2011, at 3 months of age she was diagnosed with a very rare lung disease called Congenital Lobar Emphysema (CLE) . In her 13 months of life Abbie underwent two major lung operations and lived a lot of her life on supplemental oxygen. She spent 1/4 of her life at RCH on Sugar glider ward and ICU. Despite her condition Abbie was happy and always smiling, in fact the week before she passed the Doctors named her the happiest baby in ICU!
Its been a fantastic achievement to raise in excess of $30,000 in Her memory. Of course now we've made it this far we realise we can do so much more. In March 2018 we kicked off with our sixth Team Abbie entry in Run for the Kids and got to $35,000. Rattana (Abbie’s proud Dad) and his wife Lyndal ran the 15km’s for the first time - an amazing effort. In July Jo (Abbie’s Mum) and her partner Stu are raising money in a different way - foregoing presents at their upcoming wedding and encouraging donations to the site instead. It’s a bit different but we hope the guests will support them.
All the money raised on this site goes to help an amazing hospital whose love and care is so important for sick children and their families. We are so thankful for all the support we have received so far and appreciate any contribution you would like to make to the RCH foundation.
